The school enjoys good working relationships with a wide range of people who provide services to children with SEND and their families, particularly when a child is demonstrating further cause for concern or their learning need is more complex and persistent.
The external specialists may:
- Act in an advisory capacity
- Extend expertise of school staff
- Provide additional assessment
- Support a child directly
- Suggest statutory assessment is advisable
- Consult with all parties involved with the child
Educational Psychologist, LA Sensory Support Service Teacher for the Hearing Impaired, LA Sensory Support Service Teacher for the Multi-Sensory Impaired, LA Peripatetic teacher for music, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, Physiotherapist/Occupational Therapist Assistant, Speech and Language Therapists and Assistants, School Nurse, One Point staff (including Personal Advisor) , Orthotics, Behaviour Therapy Service, Education Welfare Service, Children and Adult Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and School Counsellor.
Referrals by school are made in consultation with, and agreement from, parents.
In addition the school seeks to work closely with Social Workers, Specialist Practitioner Health Visitors, Community Nurses for Learning Disabilities and any other services involved with individual pupils and their families.
