Neville Class is part of the post 16 provision in school. Pupils can access this provision until the end of year 14.
To gain a place in the post 16 provision pupils would have been identified as having severe learning difficulties, autistic spectrum disorder and continue to require a special school placement.
The class is supported by a full time Enhanced Teaching Assistant and a part time Teaching Assistant.
Neville Class Activities
In Daily living skills the students in Neville class have been working on how to keep their homes clean and tidy and how to keep themselves safe whilst doing this. They have been ironing, cleaning, cooking and using the washing machine.
In Neville class we have also started our Horticulture lessons. We have been learning new terminology such as “sow” and “harvest” as well learning about when to sow our seeds and when they will harvest. We have started to plant Brussel sprouts, aubergines, leeks and oregano. Whilst doing this we have also started to learn the signs of these vegetables.
In our environment and community sessions we go out on the school bus and visit different places. We are starting to visit New College to support our transition when we leave at 19. We have also visited many cafes and shops to work on our money skills and social skills. During this session we also work on our road safety skills and try to be more independent travellers.
