We were delighted to welcome Mrs C Kear, President of the Inner Wheel of Durham into school on Friday 4 May when she presented staff with a cheque for £1,180. The donation is to be used to purchase musical instruments and create an outdoor music wall for pupils in our sensory department.
Congratulations to JN who won the Heathcoat Cup in Hatfield on Saturday April 21st. Josh finished 2nd in a qualifying round in March and went on to represent the North East at the final in Hatfield on Saturday. An incredible effort representing himself, his family, the school and the North East. We are very proud of his achievement!
Mr Lindley and Mrs Heslington took about half of our Choir to the Sage Gateshead on 17th March to join students from Croft Community School and form Durham Signing Choir. We sang and signed three songs to a packed Hall One as part of Durham Music Service’s biennial Showcase Concert.
It’s quite an honour to be invited to take part in the Concert itself and this is the second time we have performed in it.
It was great to be joined by Mrs Baker for the afternoon and evening, and Mr Hadden who helped us by driving one of the minibuses so that we could all get there.
The students were brilliant and brought the house down (again)!
We hope the Music Service will invite us back in 2020!
School was visited yesterday by Aiden Shepherd, Recruitment Consultant from CER Education. Aiden presented the school with a cheque for £1,260.79 and this will be used to provide waterproof clothing to enable the pupils to access outdoor learning during wet weather.
